"The thing that is important to know is that you never know. You are always sort of feeling your way."

Diane Arbus has been an inspiration to me since I started my photography class in college. Her photography stuck out to me particularly because of the way she portrays her subjects in portraits. Her portraits share similar elements, but each one is unique in that her subjects really posed themselves.

I really loved that aspect in her photography because it really brought a vintage beauty into her own style, and I incorporated that into my works with my subjects. My original portraits featured in Gallery 1 are all self-posed by my subjects in black and white inspired by Diane Arbus.
